We know oily skin can be super tough to live with. It makes your face look greasy, it melts away your makeup, it feels pretty unpleasant, and it causes clogged pores. Ugh, it’s a total menace! It’s understandable that you’re frustrated with your oily skin. But worry no more, there are some simple ways to manage it. We have compiled together a list of 5 easy skincare tips you can incorporate in your daily beauty regimen, and say bye bye to that grease.
Wash Your Face Regularly
Well, this is an absolute essential. Oily skin or not, you simply cannot skip washing your face. But with oily skin, it becomes more necessary. Thoroughly wash your face three times a day, preferably with a face wash formulated for oily skin. This will not only clean off the oil on your face, but also prevent it from getting back.
Use Toners
Washing your face is a must, but it does not do the full job. This is where toner comes in. Whatever grease, impurities, dirt, and dead skin were missed while cleansing your face, will be wiped off with the toner. Toners also help to prevent acne and balance your skin’s pH. You simply can not miss out on this step.
Blotting Papers are Your Best Friend
We understand that you can’t always wash your face. You may be out, you may be wearing makeup, or you may be in a hurry. For instantly mattifying your face, and getting rid of the shine, use blotting papers. They will get rid of the sebum while keeping your makeup intact. What’s important to keep in mind while using a blotting paper, is to not rub it on your face. If you rub it, you will just spread the oil all over your face. Rather, carefully pat or dab the paper on the shiny areas, and let it absorb the oil. You’re good to go!
Exfoliate Your Blocked Pores
One of the problems oily skin causes is clogged pores. To help prevent your pores from clogging, use a scrub to exfoliate your skin. Just be sure to not get carried away, because you don’t want to damage your skin. Always scrub lightly, and limit its use to just once a week.
Do Not Stop Using Moisturizers
You may think that because your skin is oily, you should skip using moisturizers. However, this really is not the right approach. You want to make sure your skin is hydrated. Use a lightweight, water-based formula instead of an oil-based one to keep your skin soft and supple.
If you leave your oily skin as it is, it’s possible you may get an acne outbreak. Start following these tips now, for a face that always looks clean, fresh, and oil-free. However, if you don’t see a difference, it is best to consult a dermatologist.
