We can’t deny the invincible power of makeup. It enhances our features and helps us look our best in no time. As much as we would like it to be otherwise, makeup isn’t always our loyal friend. If not used properly, it can end up making us look horrendous! When this happens, the whole purpose of using makeup is defeated.
Makeup turns against us when we make some silly mistakes when applying our makeup. Continue reading this post to discover some makeup mistakes to avoid at all costs!
1. Wearing Too Much Mascara on the Lower Lashes
Putting too much mascara on your bottom lashes is never a good idea. You often end up smudging it all over your eyes or cheeks. Plus, excessive mascara on bottom lashes is never appealing. It may make you look dramatic – and not in a good way.
It’s always best to use a waterproof formula as it eliminates the chance of blotching. Plus, it is ideal to apply a little amount of it using a smaller wand.
2. Applying Dark Eye Shadow All Over the Eyelid
Don’t do this unless you’re going to a Halloween party.
A better alternative is to apply dark shades on the outer corner of your eyes. Try this and you’ll see a huge difference in your look.
3. Applying Lipstick to Dry Lips
This is a big no-no. Never think of applying any kind of lipstick directly to your naked lips. You should first prep your lips by using a lip primer or a moisturizer. This way, your lips will stay hydrated and your lipstick will remain durable. Remember that the moisturized lips also allow smooth and even application of the lipstick.
4. Using Excessive Foundation
This will end up making your face look cakey. Always use a small amount of foundation, and never apply it all over your face. Instead, only use it on your cheeks, nose, and under-eye areas.
Some women also pick a foundation that is lighter than their skin tone – this is another blunder that you must avoid at all costs. Always pick a foundation color that matches your skin tone. Your skin foundation should cover your blemishes and enhance the look of your skin.
5. Dabbing Your Cheeks with Rogue
This year is all about achieving that no-makeup look. You can’t get this look if you wear a dark, intense color on your cheeks. Therefore, it’s better to turn to lighter tones that help create a natural beauty look. Get blushes in tones like light pink or peach.
Also, make sure that you apply the blush on your upper cheekbones rather than the central area. However, you can consider applying it to the central zone if you want to accentuate that part of your face.
