When it comes to looking after your hair, there’s so much that you should and shouldn’t do to make it healthier. You must have heard of many tips but it’s important for you to do your research before following everything you hear.
Hair care is important and will go a long way. To make it easier for you, we have made a list of the 4 top do’s and don’ts when it comes to hair.
1. Condition your hair
Conditioning your hair is so important to ensure that the quality of your hair remains intact. Every time you shampoo your hair don’t forget to condition it. It will keep your hair hydrated. Make sure to apply it to the ends and comb it through.
2. Trim your hair often
It is recommended to get your hair trimmed every three to four months depending on your hair type. This helps get rid of split ends and keeps your hair fresh and healthy.
3. Oil your scalp twice a week
Oiling helps to soften and strengthen your hair. This is why you should oil it at least twice a week. Massage it well onto your scalp and let it absorb for a while before washing it off. You can choose from a variety of oils such as almond, coconut, olive oil etc.
4. Eat the right foods
Eating the right foods will automatically make your hair stronger and healthier. Make sure to have foods that have the essential fatty acids. A mix of fruits and vegetables is a good place for you to start.
1. Brush your hair when it’s wet
Brushing your hair when it’s wet can lead it to become brittle and break. Instead, you should use a wide-toothed comb that will prevent it from getting tangled yet won’t cause any damage.
2. Wash your hair every day
You may think that you’re doing something great for your hair by washing it on a daily but that’s not true. Washing it on a daily will strip your hair of its natural oils causing it to dry out. Wash it every three days or every alternate day if you need to.
3. Tie it too tightly when sleeping
Your hair needs a break, so while you sleep make sure not to tie it too tightly as that won’t give it a chance to breathe. It’ll also break a lot easier this way. Make a loose pony or braid when you sleep so that it doesn’t get tangled and your hair still gets the break it needs.
4. Use heat products often
Whether it’s hair dryers, straighteners or curling irons try to minimize your use of heat products because they are more harmful than you think. They dry out the hair and also increase hair fall considerably. Use natural methods whenever possible.
