The right lip color can enhance your whole look and add a pop of color to it. From reds and pinks to nudes and bold colors, there’s a huge variety of amazing lip colors out there to choose from.
Along with all the colors, you also have scores of different types of lipsticks. These include cream lipsticks, satin lipsticks, gloss lipsticks, and so many others.
Out of all these great varieties, matte liquid lipsticks have truly won our hearts!
The matte look has been in style for quite a while now, and matte lipsticks take this style to a whole new level. These lipsticks are matte (obviously), super long lasting, they won’t transfer, and they line your lips perfectly.
However, many people struggle when it comes to applying liquid lipsticks and end up with a color disaster on their lips. Some fail to line their lips properly while others are so slow that the lipstick tends to dry before they even reach the other half of their lips.
However, that doesn’t mean you can’t master the art of matte liquid lipsticks and give yourself that perfect pout. The following tips will help you get those stunning, kissable lips.
Exfoliate and Moisturize
Applying lip color on dry, chapped lips is probably the worst thing you can do when applying lipstick.
You should always moisturize and exfoliate your lips in order to create a smooth, blank canvas for you to apply your choice of liquid lipstick.
Make a DIY exfoliating scrub with some honey, sugar, olive oil, and exfoliate your lips by rubbing the scrub on your lips. Use a toothbrush to rub this scrub in gentle, circular motions to remove all the dead cells from your lips.
Then comes moisturizing, which you can do with something as basic as Vaseline or some kind of lip gel.
Line Your Lips
One of the easiest ways to fill your lips in flawlessly with matte liquid lipsticks is to first line your lips. Using a lip liner helps define the shape of the lips and makes them appear fuller and plumper.
You can also play around a little at this point, and if you want a poutier look, you can over-line your lips with the liquid lipstick.
Gentle and Short Strokes
Once you’ve successfully lined your lips, start filling them in with your choice of liquid lipstick. Use smooth and gentle strokes. Don’t rush through this process, but don’t be so slow that the lipstick ends up drying before you’re done applying it.
Conceal the Outline
If you mess up or you think that your lips look uneven, don’t worry; your concealer has your back!
Take a small amount on concealer on a thin, flat brush with a small head and gently dab it on the areas where the lipstick looks messy. Concealer is your best friend in such situations and prevents you from re-doing your lips all over again!
Bottom Line
It can take a few tries to master the art of applying liquid lipsticks, and that’s perfectly okay. After all, practice does make perfect, and it’s all worth the struggle in the end!
