Best Skin Care Treatment. Every skin needs to be pampered differently based on skin type, issues, environment, age, and other factors. We have put together a guide on how to choose the right facial treatment for you.
Even though it is mainly the job of your dermatologist and cosmetologist to figure out what treatment your skin needs, it is essential to know your skin.
Step 1: Know Your Skin Type
The most basic of all the steps is to figure out your skin type. If you get this first step right, half your job is done. You will know how to take care of it. You will know what products and treatments you don’t react well to.
Typically, there are 5 skin types that we know:
- Dry Skin: People with dry skin have rough, flaky, and scaly skin
- Oily Skin: It is greasy, shiny, with usually big, open pores
- Combination Skin: This skin type is a combination of oily and dry skin. People with combination skin often have an oily T-zone, i.e. forehead, nose, and, chin while the rest of the face is relatively dry
- Sensitive Skin: Have you ever heard someone often complaining about their skin stinging, itching, or burning every time they put something new on their face? Well, that’s the sensitive skin type.
- Normal Skin: You’re lucky if you have bright, balance, and not so sensitive skin.
Step 2: Assess Your Skin Issues
Acne, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, discoloration, acne scars, and open pores are some of the most common skin issues people face.
The treatment you choose heavily depends on the issue you are trying to tackle. For instance, if you are looking into laser treatment for acne, you are not on the right path.
Step 3: Determine Your Expenditure
Besides knowing your skin type and needs, your budget plays an important role too. Charges for skincare treatments vary greatly. Not all treatments cost the same. They may range from just a couple of bucks to thousands of dollars.
Not sure about the results? Well, if you have someone at your service that is trained by the Missouri College of Cosmetology, the results are guaranteed.
Step 4: Your Personal Preferences
Some people prefer organic over synthetic products. While there is no evidence that natural products perform better than synthetic ones, there is some level of trust associated with organic products.
However, please know that the words non-toxic, natural, or hypoallergenic are not the same as organic and are not regulated in the United States.
Step 5: Ask For Recommendations
As mentioned earlier, your skin expert knows the best. Now that you have done your homework, it’s time to schedule a consultation appointment.
Tell them what you know as well as what you require. Listen to what they have to say. We hope you make the right choice. Good luck!
