The delight of flaunting a dolled up face all day disappears instantly when the time comes to peel off makeup products off the face, giving way to bone-deep tiredness and an all-consuming desire to call it a day. At that moment, the struggle to fight the urge to go to bed instead of wiping the makeup off is obnoxiously great. While most sophisticated clean their face before getting between the sheets, others give up on their skin and choose sleep over-cleansing.
With your bed in sight, washing off the makeup on your face may seem like a colossal hassle, but it’s worth the trouble because sleeping with makeup on can severely damage your skin. At first, you might not even realize that you are suffocating your skin day in day out by keeping your face glossed over with cosmetics. But eventually, you will begin to see breakouts, bumps, and even blisters, once the chemicals have had their way on your face.

Interrupted Skin Regeneration
When we go to bed at night, our body relaxes and recharges itself for the upcoming morning. Likewise, our skin chooses nighttime to regenerate and rejuvenate. But that process is barred when you have makeup on while sleeping.
The skin needs to be in its natural state for it to replenish. So, naturally, when it’s covered in beauty products, it doesn’t get to recover from all the pollution that it gathered during the day.
Foundation, powder, highlighter blush, and all other makeup supplies don’t just sit on your face. They gradually sink deep into the skin and stay there until removed. But when you sleep with all the allure still on your face, the makeup penetrates deeper into the skin, reaching the pores and blocking them. As a result, your pores get clogged, which eventually leads to breakouts.
If you want to wake up with youthful skin, you must religiously wash off every ounce of makeup on your face every night.
On the Mercy of Free Radicals
Free radicals are the skin’s archnemesis. They break down the collagen in our skin, causing unsightly blemishes to erupt all over the face. If you want to wear flawless skin, you need to keep it safe from free radicals. But that’s certainly not what happens when you sleep with makeup on.
Makeup attracts harmful free radicals from the environment all day, which then sit on your skin. If you fail to clean your face before bed, you will be unnecessarily exposing your skin to free radicals. So, unless you want to have unflattering bumps and spots on your face, you should avoid sleeping with makeup on at all costs.
